For students grades K-5

Unfortunately, after the conclusion of our four-week K-5 workshop series in January 2026, we no longer have any workshop openings for students in grades K-5 at this moment.  However, please stay tuned, because we are currently in the process of planning an additional in-person workshop series for this age group!

For teachers

Our 100% free workshops are an excellent way to supplement ELA curriculum! They’re designed specifically to jumpstart student interest in the literary arts, as well as guide them through the basics of creative writing.

The Inkroot Project is open to hosting in-person or online afterschool workshop events for your school, school district, or library system. Please fill out the form below if you’re interested in booking a workshop!

Why The Inkroot Project

For teachers, The Inkroot Project gives students a chance to dive deeper into creative writing outside the classroom. We offer spaces where young learners can play with language, build confidence, and explore their ideas through writing. Our programs are designed to complement your teaching and help students see writing as a powerful and personal tool.

For students, The Inkroot Project is a low-stakes, flexible way to explore creative writing. Although there is no “right” way to write, we will aim to teach you key literary techniques that your favorite authors use all the time to produce thought-provoking, engaging works.
